The client brief for Sunseeker House was to enlarge and improve the 2 bedroom Australian worker’s cottage, by adding a third bedroom, with a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite. The extension was requested to be single story only and was required to maintain a consistent floor level throughout, allowing people with reduced mobility to freely access all parts of the house.
The clients desired all aspects of the home to be completely redone, with an open plan kitchen, living and dining space, which had improved access to north facing light and an integrated outdoor area. It was important to improve the ventilation and flow of the home, whilst increasing the privacy between the neighbouring semi.
Our design response overhauled the entire dwelling to create a contemporary, energetic and lively, single story dwelling, which improved the floor plans spatial proportions, circulation, natural ventilation and access to natural light.
The open plan living area creates a moment of awe with the custom kitchen design, striking use of colours and meticulous detail shown in the architectural attributes of the blackbutt timber paneling.
The result of the renovation feels contemporary, fresh, creative, livable and inviting, whilst reflecting the personality of its inhabitants.
