FINALIST: RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR
FINALIST: RESIDENTIAL EXTERIOR
Rodanthe is a classic victorian with a contemporary twist, designed to reflect the personality of its multi-generational inhabitants in bold and unexpected ways. The contemporary rear extension juxtaposes the ornate detailing of the original dwelling and results in a home full of rich colour and unique character, suited to the lifestyle of modern inner city living.
The idiosyncratic colour palette was underpinned by the client’s comment ‘I don’t want white walls and I don’t want something I have seen before.’ This was my que to explore unexpected colour combinations that would compliment the lavish interior details of the Victorian Home and carry a luxury atmosphere into the modern, new extension.
The selected palette was inspired by the jewel tones of garnet, amethyst, sapphire, emerald and topaz, as they have an innate ability to communicate effortless richness and glamour, without being too over the top.
In keeping with the home’s 19th century origins, each room had to feel individual and boast rich colour, whilst maintaining a consistent visual language. The result is sensuous, atmospheric and luxurious, with a contemporary streak of striking contrast and modern functionality.
